Class 9: Dec 13 - verse 4 completed

We reviewed a new worksheet in the class and reviewed how to find subject & object in the verbs.  We also restarted on "pointing nouns" and "reference nouns" from Unit 5

We worked on verse 4 of the Surah Baqarah in the class

Homework

  1. Complete the page 22 and 23 from the book so we can discuss it in the class
  2. Write verse 5 to 8 so we can finish it in the class.  we will analyze and translate

Class 8: Dec 6th - Verbs review & translation continues

We reviewed all verbs lesson in the class and started on "pointing nouns".  Books were distributed and we finished pages 16 and 17 worksheets in the class

Class 7: Dec 2nd - review of verbs | staring on Quran translation

We continued learning about the verbs and how do pronouns work with them.  We filled two sheets in the class.

We also worked on first 3 ayaat of Surah Baqarah in the Quran notebook.  we will continue working on it in the next class

Class 6: Nov 22nd | verbs all the way

We only had half of the class today.  We learnt the verbs and how do pronouns work with them.  We filled two sheets in the class.  Since students were missing, we could not finish other work (such as reviewing the homework with whole class)

We learnt it in the class.  You will need to download the homework file below, rename it by adding our name to the filename, then work on the file, take a picture (or scan) and upload the scanned image of assignment (password is aqclasses) for instructor to look at the work

We also learnt how to use the Quran notebook.  Right side of the page should have arabic verses written from Surah baqarah (verse 1 to 7) with three lines in between Arabic text so we can put the categories and word to word meaning of the verses.  Categories go on top of each word and Meaning below

We got the grammar books in the class and worked on this sheet in the class. Now it is time to finish related homework and send it to the teacher.  download PDF or JPG version, finish it and upload it asap using dropItToMe & password "aqclasses"

We agreed we will meet Tuesday Dec. 2nd at 6:30 PM (for those students who skipped today) and 8 PM (all 4 students who attended today). Instructor is out of state next saturday hence make up class will offered 6:30 PM to 9 PM on Tuesday Dec 2nd

Class #5: Nov 15th - Vocab | Quran notebook | making short sentences

Goal: practice as much as possible with new concepts (interrogative nouns, pointing nouns, basic form of verbs & "mubtada & khabr".  3 students were missing.  Please download and catch upas much as you can

Following concepts will need to be learnt to start the basic reading.  Sr Ifrah will attend 10 AM class on sundays and Sr Kawthar will attend the 2:15 PM class.  Different teachers will be involved in teaching

  4. Role of shaddah
  5. Dropping the letter with sukoon if it comes before the letter with shaddah
  6. What are sun and moon letters
  7. Short forms of long vowel letters
  8. Maddah & Muqati'aat
  9. Noon- Qutni & little meem
  10. Ramooz-o-Auqaaf

Homework Guidelines

  1. Please check your class and homework blog regularly
  2. Homework has to be turned in every week and it is important that it is completed neatly as it is a big part of the grade
  3. You should be ready to hand in the homework after or before the review in the class
  4. Unclean/incomplete homework will not be graded but you can redo it and turn it in.
  5. If you miss the class, you will need to catch up with one of the students.  In certain cases, office hours will be used to help you catch up
  6. Quran is major part of your work so be sure to bring your copy of Quran with you!

Class #3: Nov 1st 2014

Goal: Get started on attaching parts of Arabic words which make Arabic words seemingly hard and long

Classwork Activity:
We mainly focused on attaching prepositions and attaching pronouns.  Please use this book PDF until the printed book is delivered to you

Please follow the homework guidelines posted earlier to complete your homeworks!

Homework:
  1. Review last 7 suraat of quran and list any attached prepositions and pronouns you find on a sheet of paper.  be ready to hand it in to your teacher
  2. Bring your quran as we will use first 15 verses of Quran to find these concepts before learning the new ones

Sunday Oct 26th: Pre Level Class 1

3 students are enrolled for this level.  All of them need reading help and will use the conference call 612 615 7130 at noon in weekdays for half hour - Monday thru Thursday

Homework: Join the conference class at noon during the week and practice the reading rules on individual words

We will work on verse 25 of Surah Baqarah. each word of the verse should be read individually and reading rules should be checked on.  Finally, student will try to read fluently but very slowly

Class #2: Oct 25th 2014 (Class whiteboard where all learning concepts are listed)

Goal: Learn about parts of speech & What are nouns?
 
Students started on the 3 parts of speech and worked on nouns in the class. From the class white board below, you can get the soft copy of this lesson

2 student are still missing hence we might have to arrange another class to help them catch up before next Saturday's class

Class #1: Oct 18th 2014 - Placements

Students were tested and placed in their respective classes.  2 of the level 1 students didn't show up so total class size is not known yet
